VEGANET IX โ Joining Policy
VEGANET IX is a neutral Internet Exchange Point (IXP) designed to promote efficient interconnection and resilient Internet infrastructure in our region.
1. Eligibility
- Membership is open to all organisations operating their own public ASN and IP address space, including ISPs, content providers, cloud providers, enterprises, and academic or research networks.
- Applicants must demonstrate the technical and administrative ability to operate BGP sessions reliably.
- VEGANET IX reserves the right to decline applications that may negatively impact the exchange platform.
2. Technical Requirements
- Each member must use a valid public ASN.
- Members must announce at least one publicly routable prefix (IPv4 and/or IPv6).
- All connections must comply with VEGANET IX technical specifications:
- Only one MAC address per port (unless otherwise agreed).
- Maximum MTU supported: 1500 bytes (Jumbo frames may be supported on request).
- Members must apply best practices in prefix filtering and avoid route leaks.
- Multicast, proxy ARP, DHCP, and other non-peering traffic are not permitted.
3. Peering Policy
- Members are free to establish bilateral peering agreements with other participants.
- VEGANET IX operates route servers to simplify multilateral peering; participation is recommended but optional.
- All BGP sessions must comply with standard Internet routing policies (no default routes, no martians, no spoofed prefixes).
4. Procedures
- To join VEGANET IX, applicants must submit their organisation details (ASN, NOC contact, technical contact, prefixes to be announced) to ix@veganet.net.
- Following approval, technical information and connection instructions will be provided.
5. Fees
- Participation in VEGANET IX is currently free of charge.
- Connections at TT Atakรถy Santrali are provided without any fees.
- Participants may also connect from provinces where the VEGANET or DURUNET backbone is present, as well as from Sofia, Bulgaria, subject to a port fee depending on location and capacity.
- Any future changes in the fee structure will be announced in advance.
